IP address resolution instructions

1. Introduction

This guide is developed by Beijing Ji Diao Network Co., Ltd. (here in after referred to as Tingyun) to provide legal compliance and privacy protection guidance for IP address resolution services to corporate customers (here in after referred to as "customers") who use Keytone Listening Cloud products and services.

2. Overview of IP address resolution services

2.1 Data source and resolution

The IP information of the data source is usually resolved from the server (such as Nginx) log. In your data reporting, the data reported by the front-end SDK (such as Android, iOS, Web, MP, HarmonyOS SDK) will be automatically resolved according to the IP address of the data source. This process involves matching and filling with the latest IP library, aiming to provide you with richer data dimensions.

2.2 Purpose of geolocation resolution

  • The geolocation resolution of IP addresses is mainly used for regional analysis, helping customers to more effectively analyze the user experience performance and availability in different regions.

2.3 Accuracy and Bias

  • We explicitly point out that IP address resolution results may be biased due to dynamic changes in Internet infrastructure. We will try our best to improve the accuracy of the service, but we do not guarantee the absolute accuracy of the results.
  • We will comply with applicable data protection laws and regulations, including but not limited to the Cybersecurity Law of the People's Republic of China and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

3.2 Privacy Protection Measures

  • We will take appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure the security of customer data and prevent unauthorized access and use.

3.3 Data minimization principle

  • We will only collect and process the minimum data necessary to achieve the purpose of the service, and delete or anonymize it in a timely manner after the service is completed

4. FAQ

4.1 Why is the geographical information of some data displayed as "unknown"

  • Some IP addresses, such as intranet IPs, may not be able to resolve geographic location information.

4.2 Public IP addresses and personal identification information

  • We will clearly point out that public IP addresses themselves cannot directly point to personal identification information, and we will take all necessary measures to ensure that the privacy rights of users are not violated.

4.3 Restrictions on the use of public IP addresses

  • We will limit the scope of use of public IP addresses to only those necessary for analysis required to provide services, and clearly inform customers of their use methods and restrictions.

  • Geographic location: The IP address can be used to roughly determine the geographical location of the device connected to the Internet, such as the country, region or city. This is usually achieved through an IP address geolocation database.

  • Internet Service Provider (ISP): An IP address can be traced back to the ISP that assigned it, but the ISP typically only knows the account information associated with the IP address and not directly the specific individual using the IP.
